Fallbrook Health Care District's CEO Heather Mason talks about the current COVID situation.

Partnering with North County Fire and Cal Fire, the Fallbrook Healthcare District has been doing the COVID testing throughout the unincorporated areas. The numbers started to spike during the colder days so the district recommends appointments. Over 500 people came to Fallbrook High School for COVID tests recently.

Most district personnel haven't taken a day off since the start of the pandemic. Non-essential personnel went home for the initial shutdown but they were called back to help with COVID testing.

Vaccinations have created an interesting time. The State of California  delivered a portion of the vaccines to San Diego County. Our county sends some to the Veteran's Administration, local Department of Defense, and tribal governments outside of our numbers. Front-line health care workers have been vaccinated totaling .40% of the population. The over 65 requirement changed to over 75 due to available vaccines, and this requirement could change on a daily basis. Either way, you need to have an appointment. Keep clicking on the link until you can apply and justify meeting the requirements.  There was a wrinkle last weekend due to a Moderna vaccine batch when people were allergic resulting in a slow down. Everyone must wait until San Diego County releases the product causing delays.

They receive many calls because people are challenged by the San Diego County website. Use the district email hello@FallbrookHealth.org to be added to the local vaccination list. Scripps and Sharp may have had vaccines but focus on the aging and their at-risk patients. (Note: Prior to the meeting, an article was sent to Rotarians with an updated from Supervisor Jim Desmond and a County News Center Health Article.)
