Congratulations to ourTwo -Year President smiling with Ally Abbott during Life Skit.

At Kallisto Farms, our Rotary celebrated the President Steve Abbott's Demotion  --- the first club social in since early 2020. Every one enjoyed getting together in the 80s themed event. Pop Rocks, Madonna cassettes, neon slotted eye glasses, and Rubix cubes adorned the tables.  Pac-Men chased cherries across the farm's wrought-iron gate. By the pink wall photo booth sat a totally RAD set of movies: Die Hard,  Alien, Beverly Hills Cop, and Terminator. It was a gnarly event celebrating Steve Abbott with a presidential accomplishment video playing at the event's entrance.

The evening began with a Steve's Life Skit. It started with his boyhood as a cook and fisherman on the Channel Clipper boat. continued through his youth enjoying 80's long-haired bands, and told of his marriage to Ally with two wonderful children, Ashley and David.  Of course, the recently retired Fire Chief is also our demoted Rotary President. Everyone appreciated his repeated use of  "Outstanding!"

Then came Steve's turn where he presented awards for his past two years. For 2019, he awarded Kathye Rietkerk as Rotarian of the Year, and Karen Utley received the Shining Star. For 2021, he recognized Don Weeks as Rotarian of the Year with Jen Weeks as the Shining Star.

Then, the presidential transfer of the gavel began starting with Nick Beye (1998-99) who passed it to Charles Mackay (2000-2001). Then Charles passed the gavel to Erica Williams (2011-12) who turned it over to Gordon Stone (2017-18). The most recent past president Karen Utley (2018-19) then took the gavel and handed it to Steve.

To Karen's amusement, Don slid it out of Steve's hand announcing his previous presidential years, "1996-97."
Afterwards, he handed it right back to Steve who stated his years, "2019-2021."

Our new President Don Weeks received the gavel in the end.

Ally Abbott ran the 80s games and contests. Who could solve the Rubix cube? Did anyone pick out the right Rotarian for the correct 80s photo including the bonus babies? Who put together the best 80s costume?

Rubix Cube Wizard David "DJ" Abbott

Best 80s Costumes: Gary and Paula Shilts

Masters of the '80s/Baby Who's Who: Gordon Stone and Laurel Bardeen
