Completed Backpacks for Camp Pendleton Students with Special Needs

ThIs picture shows only half the story with 50% of the bags filled! The other half were already packed for delivery in a Sorrento outside the house!

Celeste, Jim, and Anthony Grimard hosted a backpack/potluck event in their Horse Creek Ridge home. The Grimards set out all pen sets, boxed pencils, crayon boxes, colored pencil sets, highlighter sets, index card sets, and composition books on their kitchen island. Rotarians made an assembly line and filled 105 backpacks with supplies. Items were donated by Operation Showers of Appreciation, a nonprofit public charity in Fallbrook, whose goal is to “Help those who serve.”

The Weeks will deliver the backpacks to the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) at Camp Pendleton. EFMP supports military families with special medical and/or educational needs - ensuring availability of care during transitions with the goal to improve the quality-of-life through community resources and support.

Check out the photos of Rotarians filling those backpacks prior to enjoying a relaxing dinner!
