Come to meet Sean Roberts, owner of Forest Ceramic Company, and hear him speak about his revolutionary "slipcasting" process. Lunch will be provided by Faro (Trupiano's fame) at $14.00 per person. If you would like lunch please RSVP to Karen http://keufvr@gmail.com no later than November 5th. You do not need to participate in lunch to attend. Made on Orcas Island, WA Sean Forest Roberts is the owner of Forest Ceramic Company, producing fine porcelain wares. His background in chemistry inspires his experimental studio practice, which has led to his current patterned porcelain series of wares.
Each of the patterns is made by hand using colored slip, liquid clay. General patterns can be repeated, yet the inherent randomness and delicate nature of this patterning process makes each cup completely unique. What is Slipcasting? The process I use is called slipcasting, in which a plaster mold is made from an original thrown form. Liquid porcelain, called slip, is poured into the plaster mold, recreating the exact shape of the original form. The patterning process that I have developed uses colored porcelains, which I mix into the slip using colorant oxides and mason stains. The colored slips are mixed and poured in a variety of ways to create the marbled effect on the exterior of the form. The raw ceramic exterior has a unique tactile nature, making my wares a pleasure to hold in use. The interiors have a clear glaze liner, making them stain resistant, and dishwasher and microwave safe.

Please join us in serving nachos to our Marines (CLB 13 & CLB 11) during their flag football game on Camp Pendleton. They will be playing at the first football field on the left after you pass the non-denominational church on Vandegrift (turn left onto Vandegrift instead of right when you go to Lake O'Neill). The game starts at 1000. I will be picking up Steve at his house at 0800. You can meet me at my house, Steve's or Albertsons and I can give you a ride to and from the game. Please let me know if you need a ride.
